Zala Vidic is a Slovenian cellist whose artistic work is centered around chamber music, collaborative performance and creating meaningful connections with audiences through diverse concert formats. Her work moves between classical repertoire, historically informed performance and interdisciplinary projects across different cultural and performance contexts.
As a soloist, she has performed with the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra, WDR Funkhausorchester Köln and the Mendelssohn Chamber Orchestra, and represented Slovenia as a finalist at Eurovision Young Musicians in 2016. In the same year, she received the Škerjanc Award for exceptional artistic achievement.
Her artistic development has been shaped by international collaborations and festival projects acrosso Europe. In 2023, she joined the Amsterdam Sinfonietta Academy, performing at the Cello Biennale Amsterdam and in concert venues throughout the Netherlands. She has also performed at festivals including the Ravello Festival, Con Anima Festival, Festival Ljubljana and Festival Maribor, and performed in projects led by Henning Kraggerud, the Kelemen Quartet and Antonio Viñuales Pérez. In 2026, she participated in the Resonances Festival Academy in Belgium.
Alongside her solo and chamber work, orchestral playing forms an important part of her musical life. She has performed as principal cellist with the SMO Symphony Orchestra and the PAO Festival Orchestra at the Ravello Festival, and is a member of 2026 Junges Philharmonisches Orchester München tour.
Chamber music remains at the center of her artistic practice. She is a member of Piano Trio Sensibile and Cello Quartet Cédez, and previously performed with the Asag Quartet in Vienna. She is also dedicated to historically informed performance and studied baroque cello with Prof. Viola de Hoog at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. She studied modern cello with Prof. Reinhard Latzko at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and with Prof. Pieter Wispelwey at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, and is currently completing her second master’s degree at the Academy of Music, University of Ljubljana with Prof. Eldar Saparayev.
